INCLUDING YOUTHS IN INNOVATION

Last week, the WA Government held its first WA Innovation Summit. 250 business leaders were brought together in one room - about 100 of whom were chief executives - to formulate the State’s 5 year Innovation Strategy.

That's a large group and even Giles Nunis, WA Government Chief Information Officer, admitted it was ambitious, "People were asking me - why would you hold a summit with 250 people? It's crazy" ...Read more by Mark Shelton

The boab nuts are a modern twist on an ancient art form with Indigenous men from the area having painted the distinctive hollow nuts for thousands of years.

A boab business model

Back in Fitzroy Crossing, Marnin Studio director Brooke Small said the social enterprise program was going from strength to strength.

"It's really beautiful to watch the ladies go through that process, to see them grow as they watch their products travel around the globe," she said.

"It builds pride, it builds confidence, and it builds worthiness... Read more

GRAMERCY STUDIO'S MICHAEL TREVATT TALKS ORIGINAL IDEAS

I used to teach Design at a university in Perth WA. A common question I was asked from students was; “how to do I come up with an original idea?” To which, in a post-post modern society, the obvious answer is, there’s no such thing.

In my opinion the desire to be original is simply another way of saying I want to be different. True originality is unattainable. Something at first may seem original, but is actually a culmination of little ideas that have been curated and refined ... Read more
